Kilat privacy policy
Kilat shows weather and air quality in Singapore. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and it does not collect or sell personal data.
Your location
If you allow it, Kilat uses your location on your iPhone to choose the nearest weather stations and forecast area. Your location is not sent to us or stored on any server. Without location access, Kilat shows central Singapore.
What leaves your iPhone
To show data, Kilat downloads public weather, air-quality and map information from these services:
- Singapore's National Environment Agency, through data.gov.sg
- Kilat's own data service (Cloudflare), which republishes public haze, hotspot, regional air and wind data
- Mapbox, for map tiles
These requests do not include your location, name or any identifier from us. Like any internet request, they reveal your IP address and basic device information to the service that answers them, which handles it under its own privacy policy. Map requests show which area of the map you are viewing. Kilat turns off Mapbox's optional usage telemetry.
What stays on your iPhone
Kilat keeps recent data and your settings (such as the selected lens, layers and air index) on your device so it opens quickly. Deleting the app removes them.
This website
The live map on this website loads public rain radar and air-quality data from data.gov.sg, and map tiles from Mapbox, directly in your browser. Those services see your IP address and basic browser information, as with any web request. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
Children
Kilat is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
